A Blessing

Each time I sat down to write a new blog I was constantly interrupted.    It seemed like every 5 minutes my spoiled dogs wanted to go outside.  It also seemed like every time I sat down to relax I had to get up to pick up scattered clothes that my husband had left draped over the couches.  Or, I finally sit down to write and have lost all train of thought.  I had my title/subject that I wanted to write about but not enough hours in the day to make it happen.  It is often during the times when we are most busy that we lose track of how blessed we are.

So, as I sit here listening to my phone blowing up, I can clearly see how far we’ve been distancing ourselves from some things.  All the phone calls, text messages, email alerts, news notifications, Facebook posts and we certainly can’t forget about important Instagram pictures from friends and family, it is amazing that we can finish reading a book.

We have become a society of being sidetracked with notifications.    Now days we want everything at our fingertips, it saves us time.  It is what we do with that time that is saved that is of importance.  Take time out daily to remind ourselves of all the blessings that surround us and enjoy every moment in them.

As phone calls come in and Christmas cards arrive, I sit and think about how many times I have gone to call someone or sat down to write out Christmas cards and then got sidetracked with my spoiled husband or dogs, or life in general.  I found it ironic that the title of the blog was, “A Blessing.”  Somedays the things/tasks that you do don’t feel like a blessing, but it is the fact that you are able to do them that is.  It is not the fact that sometimes the people you love annoy the crap out of you, it is the fact that they are a blessing to you.  It shines through their smile, laughter, their tight hugs and the love they show you.  Feel that love each moment, even when they tracked in mud on your clean floors.  Lol.

I am not a shopper, I never really was.  So, I am not the one racing to the stores to get a deal on anything.  I am happy with family, friends, my Christmas tree and my nativity set this Christmas.  My buying gifts consist of a zoo membership, something to be enjoyed all year long.  I sit in simplicity, in appreciation and amazement.  Sometimes, I sit and wonder if we regressed instead of progressed.  But the simple fact remains that life is an amazing journey.  Everyone and everything entailed on your journey is a blessing.  I am truly blessed by all of the amazing people in my life.  Each and every moment in our lives are pure blessings; during the good and the bad.

I sit and think about those who I miss dearly each day, I am both blessed and privileged to have had them in my life, no matter how short that time seems.  They are always beside me and always in my heart.  What a blessing they’ve been.

So, make that phone call to the person who is/has been such a blessing in your life.  Reach out and reconnect, no one is guaranteed a tomorrow.  Rejoice each day and be grateful because you are here to enjoy it.  During each moment, be blessed and stay blessed through all of the love that you give and receive on a daily bases.

From our home to yours, wishing you a blessed and Merry Christmas!
